I am trying to install window NT Server with Microsoft BackOffice Server 4.5. Because no setup disks are included I made the setup disks from the cd Rom I got. I am getting invalid system disk every time when I boot up with those disks. Could anyone tell me where and how to have a set of setup disks which will work with the CD Rom I got. thanks so much !!!!

You will need 3 blank floppy disks. To make the NT setup disks place the NT CD-ROM in another computer. I'm assuming the the CD drive letter is D: If it's not change the following command to match the CD drive letter on the machine you are using.

In the START menu select RUN and type the following command:

D:\i386\WINNT /ox

Once the disks are created you can use them to setup NT.

you could just boot the computer with the NT 4 cd and install it without the floppies.

Steve:
thanks for your reply. that was how I created the disks but I am getting the Invalid system disk when I boot up with those set up disks I created. I am wondering if it is because I am using the backoffice server disk 1 which comes with a copy of NT Server to create.

If you configure your machine to boot to the cdrom in the bios then you can install NT from an Nt cdrom disk.
If you use the foppies then the first one should boot with no problem unless you have a problem with your floppy drive.
Is there something stuck inside?
Can you boot with a dos or windows boot disk?
Just make sure it is not the drive itself.
God Bless

Time to remake the disks.
If you're making them on an NT machine the command from the I386 DIR is WINNT32 /OX
If it a 9x machine it's WINNT /OX
are you sure you got the /OX right?
It makes them 3,2,1 1 is bootable.
