Service Pack System Req

For example, let's say I have NT 4.0 Workstation running tip-top on a 486 with 16mb ram. If I was to install SP1, would it deteriorate the performance significantly? Or SP6a or something like that? I am all for updating but will it drastically slow down the system / eat disk space?

patches are bug fixes. Not only will your system be more secure but will work better. Just do 6a since it has them all.

Will the service Packs take a slice of the drive? I can spare 50 megaoctets temporary, but will the size of C:\WINNT (or D:\WINNT) be significantly (over 5mo) larger? That is, if I decide not to keep old files around?

Recently installed sp6a over sp1 and as i remember it was about 20/30 MB increase in WINNT. So if your Workstation is running Tip-Top as you say ... why fix it ? Doug
