I have been having this problem with one of our servers. About once or Twice a Week it locks up and restarts by itself. I have determined what the problem could be. I believe there is a conflict with the serial mouse driver. We have a PS/2 installed in it but for somereason at boot it tries to load the sermouse service. An in the event viewer it give me an error that it failed to load the serial mouse driver. This seems to be the only explanation I could come up with.
My question is can I safely remove a service (sermouse) from the service directory in the registry. I know where it is located I just don't know if It will affect anything.

Uh.. wouldn't it be easier just to go into Devices [control panel app] and disable the sermouse. It won't load if disabled.
I really doubt a com port / mouse driver is rebooting your server.
Clearly you aren't getting a log entry when you crash which is normal. You have to ask yourself what else is happening around this time. What other scheduled tasks are happening?

For startup error, disable serial mouse. For rebooting by itself, it may be something inside the server that is not working. Try inspecting the fan and see if any have stopped working, including the power supplies. Often, a rebooting by itself problem is due to fans not working and CPU overheating.
