go to the bdc. Bring up server manager off the admin tools menu. Highlight the bdc and go up to the menu. You will see promote to pdc is available. Promote the bdc to pdc will automaticly demote the pdc to bdc.

Summary: You mean to say changing the server role from stand-alone/member server to pdc server you need to reinstall the windows nt and change the server role to primary domain server....
