I know this is a really thick-sounding enquiry, but I need to get a SCSI card to go in a Gateway 2000 PII to run an Epson scanner and a Yamaha CD-RW -- but nowhere can I find anything useful telling me what to go for. I hear Adaptec are the ones to buy, but that doesn't really help...

Thanks!

Adaptec SCSI cards are by far the easiest to work with in my experience. NT has a lot of built in native support for the adaptec product line already. WARNING: If you have never worked with SCSI devices before get ready for a frustrating experience. There are a lot of nuances to using SCSI.

I'll second that. After a decade or more of working with SCSI devices trouble-free on the Macintosh, I was quite unprepared for the onslaught of frustration when I had to install a scanner on my NT workstation ot the office. What takes about 30 minutes on the Mac has now gone on for more than five days. And the scanner card STILL crashes my mouse and keyboard on start-up. Yes, I _am_ inexperienced with the PC, that's why I called in our PC guru to take a look. He doesn't know what's up with this card either.

Can't believe people actually PAY to have this done to them...

Joe.

I installed a Tekram scsi card into a new NT machine. It installed like a dream and works fine. It is the first time I've done it.
