RPC Server unavailable error

Hi all,
I have an NT server that is generating Netlogon events (ID - 5722). From the data I notice the remote pc's password account is invalid. I ran the NETDOM utility to rejoin the system to the domain but I get an error saying the RPC server is unavailable. However, I can ping the system just fine from the server (PDC). Does anyone have any suggestions?

sounds like a name resolution error: -any problems with other machines? check WINS database. -just this machine? when you ping the server from the workstation by host name, does the machine resolve the servers IP correctly? try nbtstat -rr from a cmd prompt on the workstation. if you are using lmhosts files make sure the IP - SERVERNAME definitions are correct
if those simple things are no help (or you would just rather re-establish the machines sid) 1. remove the machine from the domain 2. delete the computer account on the pdc (and make sure this change has time to replicate to the bdc(s) 3. delete the records of the machinename from WINS (make sure this is replicated to all WINS servers by tombstoning the record) 4. rename the workstation 5. add the workstation back to the domain
