Hi Chaps,
let me give you some back ground first I have 3 servers 1 XP internet server, a NT4.0 PDC, and a NT4.0 BDC, with around 30 PC's with Windows 98 installed on the I have been trying to get Windows XP working as a client workstation I work in a school so need roaming profiles XP works fine and I can see all the servers but......it doesnt download the profile from the PDC it just creates a local one and gives you admin right (obviously not good with all the unscrupulous children about) is the away to get it to down load the profile from the server or some other way of configuring it so the pupils have restricted access and administrators have full access. Some one suggested group policies which I have looked into however you can only secure local profiles and it means having all the profiles on each pc or I can lock the computer for everyone including admin.

I am not convinced that roaming profiles in NT4 are a complete success. I think what you are looking for is Server 2000 or Server 2003 with Active Directory and XP on the client machines.
