Hi again all,
I'm now having problems with user profiles...

Here's what I've done to create a roaming profile:
- I created a share named 'Roaming' on the PDC
- Within this folder I put two subfolders: 'Profiles' and 'Users' for roaming users home directory
- I set READ permission on the 'Roaming' folder for Everyone, did the same for the subfolders, and gave CHANGE permission to individual users for their individual folder.
- I created a template account on the PDC, then used the Control Panel's system app to copy the template profile to a user subfolder in the new \Roaming\Profiles directory.
- I created a new user, using the User Manager for Domains on the PDC and specified the following settings... Profile Path: \\PDC\Roaming\Profiles\username\ , Logon script: user.bat (located in the \\PDC\NETLOGON share) , Home Directory: H: \\PDC\Roaming\Users\username\ .

Then I tried to log on as the new account from a workstation. I received two errors.

The first error said "The operating system was unable to create directory \\PDC\NETLOGON\Profiles??? You will be logged on using cached local profile..." The weird thing was that the 's' in 'Profiles' was truncated. Anyway, what the hell is this? Why is the system trying to create a profile in this folder when I specified a different location for the user's profile?

The second error I received was: "The domain controller for your domain could not be contacted. You have been logged on using cached account information. Changes to your profile since last logged on may not be available." What a bunch of bologne! The PDC still validated my password, because I logged on. And, I could still map drives and browse the network. So what gives?

So, needless to say, the roaming profile was not used.

If anyone sees anything wrong with what I did or has any suggestions or comments, please respond on the forum, or via email.
Thanks in advance!
