OS: Windows NT Workstation 4.0
SP: This has happened in SP 4, 5, and 6a.
IE: 3.01, 5.01, 5.5
When I enter Explorer (via right-clicking Start, the Windows Explorer icon, or My Computer), I am able to browse the file system normally. If I right-click on a -shortcut- (this does not happen with files or folders, JUST shortcuts), I get the popup menu like normal. However, if I click away from the menu, to clear it, I get an Exception Error: Access Violation (0xC00000005) in Explorer.exe. Dr. Watson does his thing and Explorer restarts.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling IE, have replaced the explorer.exe file with the original one from the CD. Nothing has yet worked. I'm not eager to re-install NT, since I JUST did so last night... now it's not working.
Any thoughts?
