Hi all
I got a dual bootsystem win95OSR2 and NT4sp6,
both are on 1st harddrive.
On the 2nd harddrive i got 1 fat32 partition. When i started diskmanager, nt placed signature on both harddrives.
Now my partitionmanager (pts partitionmgr) can not access my 2nd drive properly, error: partition overwritten. The partition is listed as unformatted.
Ofcourse i cannot resize my partition now.Is there anyway to solve this. I've read something about fdisk /mbr, won't that destroy the data on it.
The drive is fully accessible from win95 as if there was no problem.

Win NT 4.0 cannot read FAT32--only FAT16 and NTFS. Windows 2000 can read FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS. Win NT 4.0 will never be able to read the partition on the second drive as long as it is FAT32.

It's not that I want nt to read from the fat32 partition but the partitionmgr (dos-based on bootfloppy) can't edit the partition. I want to resize the partion so I can create an other one.
NT's diskmanager did write a signature on the 2nd drive with only the fat32 partition on it. From that moment on the part.mgr could not edit partitions on that drive so the nt signature must have been written in the mbr somewhere.
In the mean time it tested this on an other pc. I installed nt, run the part.mgr, resizing was not a problem. Then I run diskmanager (nt automatically placed signature on drive), run part.mgr but now I get same error: partition overwritten. I can't resize the partition, formatting partition is the only option. Ofcourse I cannot do that, I don't want to loose my data.
