Does anyone know if it's possible to import a *.reg file from the command prompt to a REMOTE pc.

I'm trying to install software remotely from my desktop. I can share the drives and copy the files and folders over, but some programs require registry changes and that's the part I'm having trouble with. I want to be able to be selective with the PCs that get the changes, so I don't want to put a "regedit /s xxxx.reg" command in the logon script and I also don't want to have to go to 300 different PCs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about using a command prompt, but by using REGEDT32.exe you can connect to the registry of remote computers and "restore" a key. Be very carefull with this because it can delete other subkeys and values.

Try it out on a test PC first. Be sure to save the key as a safety copy first.

Good luck.

If you know the names of the systems or perhaps you could copy a unque file on to them then set up a bat file to look for that file if present run X reg file.

use the REGEDIT /S option so users won't get the pesky importing reg key and success dialog boxes.

Good Luck
