I'm having a little problem with my Realtek Driver. I had to reinstall Windows NT 4.0 recently and the driver works fine until I install the AccelSTAR Driver from permedia for my graphics. After I do this I get an error on startup "One or more drivers failed during startup." And when I check the event viewer it tells me that Realtek can't find the interupt number or some such (sorry I don't have the exact errors, to get them I'd have to make it so the internet doesn't work and that'd make it so I couldn't post here).

It seems that the IRQ numbers for the graphics driver and the Realtek driver are clashing? Is there anyway to fix this, it worked before I reinstalled windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

is the video card also pci?
I had a similar problem
I was able to go into the bios and
release unused irq's that where allocated to the isa slots
The newly available irq's where then redirected to the devices on the pci bus

good luck

I've got same (exact) problem as you describe.

Have you been able to fix the IRQ clash? Please let me know the solution if you have.

My problem is not quit the same. But it deals with NT 4 and RTL8029 pci cards.
I have 2 of them both were working befor my Nt server crashed now they are not. Nt finds 1 just fine, they are both on free IRQs 10 and 5 i think. I just can't seem to get NT running I even loaded PNPISA to see if that would help nt get a clue!
Can't wait for NT 2k!!!!!! ARGGG
Please help if you can.

I too have this card. I am growing to hate the thing! This worked for me and the connection switch so some of you with IRQ conflicts maybe there is something in the config utility that you can use. Download the configuration utility and try to see if it can assign the IRQ statically.

good luck,

Please contact http://www.realtek.com.tw/cn/driver/8029-driver.htm to get the latest driver for RTL8029 and RTL8029As. The other word, NT don't support PnP so you should disable the function of "PnP OS Installed" on BIOS first !

Have sound card, modem and this adapter installed on Celeron motherboard - all PCI sharing IRQ 11. Ever since installing network adapter, after about 10 minutes on the net get a CATASTROPHIC freeze and have to reboot.

Have tried any and all settings available thru R1020SET program (name is approximate) which allows you to configure card.

Running windows 98, got the latest 8/99 windows drivers for the card - still freezes, suspect low level hardware incompatibility.

Any ideas ?

I have similar problems with the Realtek RTL8029(AS) card.

I have two on seperate PC's (one win95, one win98 se). I got the latest drivers but the one on Win 95 doesn't work with the 8029 drivers (have to use RTL8019 drivers) and the one with win98 se gives an error after restart.

Any ideas?

I can not get this *bloody* card working under NT4, but it does work under Win98 just fine. In NT4 the event viewer is saying something like a PCINT1 error, can not find adapter...this is really a plug&pray card
Did anyone solve this problem already and can share his/her solution with me??? Thanks a billion!

rgrds,
Ken.

For all bad searcher's:

TheRealtekhomepage is :
http://www.realtek.com.tw/
Then you choose :
communications net
on the left side.
And you can download a lot off different driver's.

I, have troubles too, but i'm working on it, and i'm sure i'll find it.

Good luck too all off you.

Hi !

I also have some problems with this card.
I had no problem to install it under Win98 -
there is no conflict. I can also connect to
the Internet but it is impossible to connect
to our University net. But I am sure I
configured the card as it should be.

Do I have anything to do in BIOS or under DOS?

In Win98, the problem is that Win98 uses per default other IRQ's than the Bios has set up. When Bios said IRQ 10 (for the netcard), it was IRQ 5 in the device-manager and vice versa. It seemed, that the Realtek 8029 cannot cope with it.
Now, the next text on the dialogs is translated from german, so they might be somewhat different in the english version of Win98:
A solution is to change the 'IRQ-steering' in Win98 to 'Bios-steering'.
In the device-manager,click on 'system-components' and there on PCI-Bus.
In Register 'IRQ-steering' deactivate 'IRQ-steering' and in Register
'settings' activate 'select Bios'.
I hope this works for you, for me it did.
george

I was dopped into purchasing this card for $20 and, ugh, an AMD pc-net ISA card at the same time. I have only once gotten these two to communicate, and it was possibly between a 486 WIN95 and a K62 WIN95. I now run the K62 under WIN98 machine and an APTIVA 486 WIN95,and, SURPRISE, the neither of the machines will recognize their respective LAN cards. I have tried almost every driver, and, unusually, beating on the motherboard doesn't scare the machones into working. I do remember, VIVIDLY, that removing ALL OTHER CARDS before installing the lan card helps (thus allowing the LAN cards free reign upon which IRQ's and DMA's they want), but it doesn't work this time. HELP?
