Comment: I'm getting an error when I trying to dial-in to my ISP using RAS/DUN. This is the error: "Error 633: The port is already in use or is not configured for Remote Access dial out". DOes anyone know how to correct this error? I have a PCTel HSP 56K on-board modem.

Reply: (edit)Is your modem(drivers)installed properly? Test the modem in Hyperterminal, if it works then this's simple problem. Open RAS and configure this modem to "dial out". If your modem doesn't work in Hyperterminal, check NT Diagnostics' resourses, Ports and Devices in CP. If it doesn't show in there then you may post more info about what's goin on. Let me not forget: is it in NT hardware compatibility list?

Reply: (edit)Marvin: I too have a PCTel HSP 56K modem, and have recently migrated to NT4. Installing this thing has been a nightmare for me. I have an M748MR motherboard that has this modem onboard. I used the .exe file on CD that came with my motherboard to install the modem. When "Wait for Dial Tone" is selected and I try to dial in, the dial tone comes through the speakers loud and clear, but then a "There is no dial tone" message appears. After deselecting "Wait for dial tone", it sometimes works, but most of the time it doesn't. I get greeted with "PPP cannot converge" errors (among others). In regards to your problem, maybe you have to go to the control panel and run "HSP Port". This should have been installed when you installed your modem driver. Hope this helps. If you get your working, could you please email me. Thanks.
