Profile problems with NT and XP

We are running both WinNT and Win2000 server products. Clients are both WinNT(older machines) and WinXP(newer machines). We are having profile issues when a user logs into XP first and then logs into an NT machine. Many different problems on the NT side, such as no Control Panel in My Computer and no Settings on the Start Menu. On the XP side, it always tries to syncronize the profile when logging off. Users have roaming profiles. Anyone else ever had a problem like this? Any help would be great!

XP (NT5.1) will not be able to download the profile to an NT4 Server. To have your profiles stored on a domain controller you must have a W2K Server for XP. Furthermore, NT policies will not work on XP. You must again utilise W2K policies and active directory.
