We have users that are logging on locally (shmucks). I create a domain name and switching 'em over so they log on to the domain. Win95/98 computer work fine, but when it comes to nt 4.0 machines i have all sorts of problems. One of 'em was when i switched someone i copied all theyre desktop icons to theyre new profile folder, so now he has his icons. then i had to get a picture and set it as his wallpaper, but when i tried to open the picture, it wouldnt let me (got that little box with the red X on the left hand corner of IE). Then when i logged in him locally he was able to view the picture. The worst one was when i switched someone and she ran IE and got an application error ("the instruction at "0x78002fde" referenced memory at 0x00790000. the memory could not bne written. Excdption: Access violation ). I log her in locally, and everything works fine

NT is very sensitive when it comes to user Profile. Since you already created the domain accounts for these NT users, have them login to the domain so that their NT (domain) profile are created. After that, have these users logged out, then logged back in using the local administrator account (not the user local account). This is where you then copy the profile. Right click on My Computer and then go to User Profiles -- should show all profiles exit in that computer. You should be able to see the user local account (computername\shmucks) and user domain account (domain\usernames). First, click on the local user profile then click on "Copy To..." browse to the Winnt folder in C:\WINNT\Profiles\ then look for the "user's profile folder for the domain"---(because you want to copy the local profile to the domain profile.) You should be able to tell the difference between the local and domain profiles since the domain profiles are named with name.domain format. Choose the domain profile folder, it will prompt for account for authentication, choose this user domain account for authentication then choose copy. It will copy for a couple of secs or more depending on the size of the profile being copied. When copy is done, log the user back to the domain and his/her local profile should have been copied successfully to the domain.
