Hello -
On my machine when you double click on the word icon the machine thinks for a couple of seconds and then nothing happens. I tried dilling down to and running winword.exe and it did the same thing. Then I tried reinstalling word and got the same result. Any Hints?

Try disabling all other programs especially any anti virus program...

Also check to see how much hard drive space you have available...

Please repost...

Possible MACRO virus.
See Service-Macro. If MACRO no in page down
menu, then possible Macro VIRUS. Possible
WM.CAP.

Cure this virus and set ONLY READ attribute
on the NORMAL.DOT file.

I upgraded to sp1 and disabled Virus Scan and changed the normal.dot to read only and it still isn't opening

Uninstall word, delete the folder in program files and empty the temp folder of any files.
Restart the machine and then try reinstalling word. If all else fails, the registry is your next stop.

Sounds very familiar. Where I'm working, this is a VERY common problem. The easiest solution is: Find a file named "normal.dot". (Usually in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office). Normally the size of the file is about 30KB, but if it is like 200+ KB, the file is most likely corrupted. Delete the file and copy a working one from another machine. And then you have to change the Word-setting manually again...
As you all know, when Word is starting, it will load the normal.dot file, and if its corrupted, then...
