Comment:
currently I have run into another problem working with nt 4 workstations, The HD on each of the computers is partitioned into 2 parts a C: and a D:, 2 and 3 gigs, now there are program files on each but the windows file is found on the D:, how can I condense these two partitions and eliminate the d: so I only have a primary c:, under the C: there is a little hand? does that mean its slaved? Any help as to how I can de-partition these drives back down to C: without windows disks and such yet still be able to retain the os?
You could install Partition Magic, and go through several steps to resize and move the partitions. However, if you get rid of the C partition, you'd have to reinstall any programs that reside on that partition, as there are files and Registry references everywhere that point to C. Perhaps you can articulate as to why exactly you feel you need to combine the drives and rid the drive of C.
You could always just backup your data and reinstall NT, which is probably the way I'd go if I were having considerable difficulty with the drive the way it is.
Understand that NT has limits. First limit is out of the box it can only install to a 4gig max partition. NT also has a bios/ntfs boot bug that limits system and boot partition to 7.8gig. Exceed this and you can end up with a nonbooting system.
