Win 98 machine crashed...won't boot to C:\ prompt, cannot access CD-ROM...Himem.sys missing...Command.com seems corrupted...

I can boot with a boot floppy, and then look at the directories on the C:\ drive...

I was able to pull some of the files from My Documents to a Zip drive hooked up in Guest mode...In the My Documents DOS reports a "bad sector"...

I am trying to access the My Documents folder using Norton Utilities 4.0 which I have on a Zip disk and then acces the C:\ drive with the Guest command...

What I don't want to do is copy Norton to the C:\ for fear of overwriting some of the damaged files I'm trying to recover...

I did this a couple of years ago on a similiar situation, but I don't remember how I accessed Norton 4.0 in DOS mode...

Does anyone have any ideas on how to run Norton Utilites 4.0 from a DOS prompt???

Many thanx to all...Steve
