Comment:

I have a department using a Net Use command to let them print to an IP printer from a DOS program. All seem to work fine, apart from one machine which repeatedly disconnects itself from the lpt1 given. Any drives mapped using net use are unaffected. Any of you wonders out there have any ideas?

If you do a net use after the lpt disconnect what is shown? Lpt1 mapped to something different?

Otherwise is sounds like a intermittent nic/switch port failure. check out the physical connection aspects.
