After attempting to install the Sound driver for my ESS Allegro PCI Sound Card both through windows and through the accompanyment CD, I have had no luck in getting the sound to work at all. According to the "Devices" tab under "Multimedia" in the Control Panel, the driver is installed, BUT it is not listed as a playback device under the "Audio" tab of "Multimedia". When I try to start the "allem3" device under "Devices" in Control Panel, I get an "Error 1058: This service is disabled" message, yet it is NOT a service and can not be enabled through the "Services" section of the Control Panel. Has anyone successfully installed one of these sound cards?
