How can I install a printer driver for Windows NT with a Hewlitt Packard Desk Jet 500? I just need to download the driver, but can't find it for NT. Any suggestions?

Hello Sue,

The Windows NT CD may be necessary to install these drivers. If unable to find these drivers on the Windows NT CD from the computer manufacturer, please contact Microsoft (R) or the computer manufacturer for help in locating these drivers.

Local printer
If the printer is hooked directly (parallel) to the computer, follow these instructions for standard installation of the appropriate printer driver.

Click Start, Settings, Printers.
Double-click Add Printer.
Click Next.
Select Local, then click Next.
Select Port (usually LPT1) then click Next.
Choose HP from the Manufacturer list.
Choose the printer model from the printer list, then click Next.
Select Yes if this printer is the default printer or select No if this printer will only handle selected print jobs. Click Next to continue.
Leave as Do Not Share at the Printer Sharing Window and click Next.
Select No to skip the test page then click Next.
Click Finish to complete the installation.
Insert the appropriate disk or CD and follow the instructions on the screen if asked for a Windows disk. Once the driver has been installed, it will be listed in the Printers window (Start, Settings, and Printers).
Close the Printers window and try printing.
Network printer
In Windows 2000, click Start, Settings, then Printers.
Double-click Add Printer.
Click Next.
Select Network Printer then click Next.
Click Next to browse the network for available printers.
Select the correct printer from the list and click Next
Select Yes if this printer is the default printer or select No if this printer will only handle selected print jobs. Click Next to continue.
Verify selections and press Finish to complete.
Insert the appropriate disk or CD and follow the instructions on the screen if asked for a Windows disk. Once the driver has been installed it will be listed in the Printers window (Start, Settings, and Printers).
Close the Printers window and try printing.

******************************
If this doesn't work you could try the windows 2000 Drivers (It's allso NT based)
