All power was lost to the building during last week's storm in the Carolina's. Everything is back up but we can't print to one of our networked Lexmark printers. It is ready and responds to all ping, etc. commands. Starting and stopping the print queue did not clear it. Can I manually delete all *.shd and *.spl files in the spooler? Another suggestion? Thanks.

If you stop the 'spooler' service you can then go and delete the spool files and then restart the spooler service. As you can ping the printer ok you know the network connection is fine so the next thing is the printer's setup on the server. Does the IP address the printer has match the IP port in the settings on the server i.e. has the printer grabbed a different IP address from DHCP after the power outage?

Thanks Maurice. The printer has a static IP excluded from the DHCP scope. A port was created for the printer with the UNC path. I did notice that the path listed for the share in Server Manager says "Lexmark1, LocalSplOnly". I don't recall ever seeing that before.....

Just out of curiosity what port monitor type are you using? I have installed the HP port monitor which makes setting up TCP/IP ports for printers a much easier task. If you want a copy search for HPSPMNT.exe on the HP downloads page. An it works fine for all network printers not just HP.
