We replaced 3 HP 5si printers with 3 LJ8150s. These printers are part of a print pool. I created a new printer in Windows. I also recreated the IP ports in the Jet Direct print monitor. (Even though the IP addresses stayed the same, Jet Direct associates IP ports with the MAC addresses, too.) Once the new printers were installed and the 3 ports selected for the print pool, right off the bat the pool was biased towards the #2 printer- all jobs would go there instead of randomly selecting a port. If I removed the port for the #2 printer from the pool, all the jobs would go to the #3 printer. If I removed that one, then that only left the #1 printer, and that would print; so that means the print queue can print to each printer. But when I reselected the other two printers again in the pool, it when right back to only sending jobs to the 2nd printer.
I tried deleting the ports and recreating them again, and now it defers all jobs to the #3 printer. One of the jobs I watched while testing did get stuck, and when that happened it started sending all the jobs to the 2nd printer. But once I got that job cleared, it went right back to sending only to the #3 printer. So the pool seems biased towards one printer, but will seem to treat the other printers like a failover if a job gets stuck at its favorite.
I'm using the latest driver from HP's website and it's service pack 6a on the server. Anyone have any ideas on this?
