Hi

I have scan our NT server with proxy etc.., it has given me a port 1033 netspy open. What can I do?, is this something bad or do I need to close it, I try to look it up on the internet but is just given me that it monitors the network utilisation etc..

Can anyone suggest something otherwise.

It could be many things. What scanner are you using and is it just doing a port check and manually reporting what port 1033 might be used for or does it actually test it to see if it actually IS that.

There are 2 programs I found it could be. The one you found which is exactly what you describe and nothing to worry about (as far as I can see) The other progran is as follows. This pretty much sums it all up. It looks like your network admin is monitoring your Web browsing activities. If its this one I'd be worried if you don't know about it...

Anyway hope this helps

With NetSpy you can see what web sites others are accessing from a PC. NetSpy runs
invisibly so the user surfing the internet has no idea that big brother is watching them!
Parents, use NetSpy to see what web sites your children are visiting. NetSpy will also
record every key that a user types...even passwords! You can even read their private email
messages after they've been deleted! With the NetSpy Configuration Program (which is
password protected) you can set several options such as:
1) The amount of time to wait before NetSpy saves to the log files in intervals of
15 seconds.
2) Whether or not you want new log files created each time NetSpy loads.
3) Whether or not you want duplicate URLs to appear in the URL log file.
4) The directory location and file name of the log files.
5) Whether or not you want NetSpy to log keystrokes.
6) Whether or not you want NetSpy to capture screens.
NetSpy currently supports the following browsers: Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Internet
Explorer, AOL and Prodigy.

Hi

Just using superscan to scan the loaded list of trojans.

I haven't put any programs in to monitor the network apart from network administration and monitor from NT services

I am have a network of over 250 clients, 3 machines may be running netspy, as i used superscan3 and found 1033 open on 3 clients.
Is GBH sure this is not a problem?
