Hey... i was wondering if any of those popkiller things actually work... and if anyone has anyways of blocking pop ups... please.. i hate them
the one that I use is from panic ware. It works EXCELLENT and definitly worth the money. keep in mind that its not worth it to buy the pop up stopper profesional since mine works fine.
here's the address.http://www.panicware.com/product_pspro.html
As well as the popup killer that Nathan suggested if you dont already have it ..should download spybot search and destroy which gets rid of a pile of spyware crap that causes the popups in the first place. Just be sure to update spybot b4 running scan.
spybot
http://wilders.org/HTMLobj-1590/spybotsd12.exe
and if you havn't done it already you can disable messanger (this is not the chat program windows messanger or msn) it is for network admins sending messanges across network and spammers found that hole to exploit.
to disable messanger...xp pro...control panel> admin tools> services> scroll down to messanger, d.click it and stop service, then from the startup type pulldown menu set it to manual or disable> apply> ok.
xp home will be similar..just not sure exactly. Might have to play around a bit to find it.Good luck
Report Offensive Follow Up For Removal
For XP Home, you go to Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Then you do the same as with XP Pro.
Note: The description is "Transmits net send and alerter service....." This won't stop MSN Messanger (chat program) from working, just the annoying pop ups.
enjoy :)
