Phone dialer doesn't work. I get an error message: "Failed trying to connect the call. Does the device have power and dialtone if necessary?" My modem works but I can't make outside calls with it. Any help?

I to, like Darlene, am having problems trying to get P. Dialer to phone out. I have de-clicked the dial tone button in modem properties, it made no difference.... any suggestions. My modem appears to be ok for it connects to internet using I. Explorer and O. Express.
I am in desperate need of a frustration cure.

Jim
