I have WinNT Server. I log in as an administrator. I'm trying to change permissions for some folder from Windows Explore and it gives me the following message: "You only have permission to view the current security information on >". And i can't change any permissions to that folder. If anyone knows the folder contains PeachTree Accounting files and folders. I can change permissions to other folders though.

I am looking at the same situation and the manner in which one would take ownership of the files and or folders is the very thing that generates this message.
"You only have permission to view the current security information"
Any other suggestions?

These are the steps that I performed to correct this problem on one of my machines.
1. Right-click the problem file or folder and press Properties.
2. On the Security tab, press OK when you receive You only have permission to view the current security information on username.
3. Press Advanced.
4. Select the Owner tab.
5. Select your current logon or Administrator as the new owner.
6. Select Replace owner on subcontainers and objects and press OK.
