Subject: Permission problem with remote unattended backup |
Comment: Currently running NT 4.0 Server SP4 with Resource Kit installed. Using Command Scheduler (Winat.exe), I have scheduled two backup batch files to run. These batch files are written to back up the local hard drive first, then to back up shares on two remote computers. One is for full backup, the other for incremental backups. If the batch files are executed without using Winat, everything works fine. However, if they are scheduled to run using Winat, the backup of the local hard drive runs without a hitch, but when trying to backup files on the remote computers, I get an error message telling me I don't have permission to these files and to see the owner or network administrator. I AM THE NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR, DAMN IT, and I have full access permissions to these shares. The Scheduler service is started and running, and is configured to log on with my name and password, rather than as the System account. Once, after I changed the service log-on account from the account of the administrator who was currently logged on to the server to my own account, the full backup actually worked. This was while I was trying to test it during the afternoon, so I reset the Scheduler for 10:00 that night and left thinking that the problem was solved. No such luck. It hasn't worked since then. Any suggestions?
