I was reading some MS knowledgebase articles in preparing to run perfmon to locate a bottleneck. What I'd like to know is if I should log certain counters for a while, then stop those and log different counters, then stop those and log another set of counters, etc. In other words, should I log memory counters first, then disk counters, then network counters, etc. or can I just log them all at the same time? Even if I can, will it make deciphering the information that much more difficult with all of those counters being logged at the same time? Any help would be appreciated.

Here's a clearly written article about Getting the Most Out of Perfmon

I'm not qualified to offer any of the subjective opinions you're seeking.
