OS: Windows NT 4.00.1381 SP6
CPU/Ram: PENTIUM MMX 166MHz; 256MB
Model/Manufacturer: GATEWAY 2000 P5-166 DESKT
Comment:
I have a Pentium 166MMX and have access to a 233 (I'm not sure if the 233 is MMX or not). Would I notice much of a difference running NT on a 233 vs 166 (is it worth the upgrade)? Thanks in advance.

There would be some improvement in performance... Will it be really noticeable...? Depends on what you run etc.

Is it worth the upgrade? If it's going for free - probably yes; if it's going to cost more than a few pennies... - perhaps no?

Is the 233 a PII or just pentium? If PII, there would be a difference.

My rather antique Dell Dimension is a Pll/233Mh... and that chip went as far as 333Mh (or was it 336???) - at least for Dell.

Don't ask me about slots though...

No, the PII started at 233 slot 1 but, there was also a P1 233 in socket 7. I actually still have one of each.
