What is it and how can I get it to take up less space. It resides in the root of C and continually takes up at least 14 MB. I've deleted through Dos and it returns with a larger file size. Can anyone help?

The pagefile.sys file represents the virtual memory for NT 4. When the system runs out of RAM, data in memory is "swapped" to the hard drive to make room for newer incoming data. NT automatically creates a swap file (pagefile.sys) when installed, roughly equal to the amount of physical ram installed on your system. The minimum size of the pagefile is indicated by NT to be 2 MB, but this is not nearly enough for proper operation of your system. Do not delete the pagefile. You should not reduce the size of the pagefile. But if you must, I'd recommend doing so only if you have at least 128 MB of physical memory installed.
