Outlook, can't delete multiple emails

Running exchange5.5, nt4.0 server. No one in outlook can delete more then one email at a time. If they delete just one, it's fine (from any folder), but if they delete 2 or more at the same time (any folder), then it just clocks forever.
I've reapplied the exchange srvpck4 (no change), deleted the IMS and recreated it(no change), Reapplied the Exchange srvpck4 again and same thing.

Bring up the system monitor, and see what the server's doing when multiple's are deleted. There may be a memory issue. Excessive page faults point to more RAM being needed.
Also try using the system monitor on the client, and see what's happening there. There could be an Exchange client problem, too. Have you re-installed a client to see if that solves it?

I did check the system monitor on the server and client, doesn't seem to be a memory issue, although, I did purchase more RAM and installed about a wk ago, but didn't resolve the issue.
What do you mean by reinstalling the client? I have taken a reimaged pc, reconfig'ed it and same issue.
Any additional suggestions? Should I defrag my exchange DB? (I'm not really confident w/ using the eseutil command.)
