Outlook Address book locking up aft

I'm using Outlook 5.5. I've imported the address book from a '95 machine to an NT machine. The address book came over fine, except that it locks up every time you try to access it using the main toolbar. it also locks up if you try and add to the layout. I've tried reinstalling it (outlook 5 and IE5.5) and re-importing it. It still locks up. I've also exported the addresses and imported them again to no avail. Finally, I manually removed the file under windows explorer, and imported again. It still locks up. If anyone has any suggestions, It would be very apprecaited. TIA.
