I'm installing ACT!2000 databases shares on my NT server (with 10 W98SE clients) and i see that ACT! suggests that we disable opportunitic locking on the server. Is it safe to disable oplock this way, or will it interfere in any other processes (i.e., is opportunistic locking used by other processes that anyone knows of?).
I know someone who's installed this without disabling oplock and it has seemed to work just fine....necessary?

I've installed ACT!2000 on an NT server, and had about 6-8 clients running on it, without the lock - seems fine. Read about it here:
