I've got alot of messages per day originating from "<>". We've got an Exchage 5.5 SP3. I've checked both "Hosts and clients that successfully authenticate" and "Hosts and clients with these IP addresses" in the Routing Restrictions button.

The messages that come from <> are Non-delivery reports, which does not make your server an open relay. Check your outbound mail queues to make sure that they are not full.

Non-delivery reports = what?
Can you give an example of how these <> get there?... Spammers...automatic email generation???
I regularly have 20-50 "<>" messages in the Outbound messages awaiting delivery.
