I've got an old Dell XPS D333 stand alone running
WinNT and I fear it's life it nearing the end. I would
like to backup the contents of the 2 HDs on board.
without USB support I'm stuck with a 100MB Zip as
my only backup device so i've been looking into on-
line backups. the few i've checked like Carbonite don't
support NT. I can't believe there isn't one that does. I
don't want to randomly search for one so I thought I'd
stop here and see if anyone can suggest one. Hope
you can help.

Is there some reason you can't install a CD-burner? There exceptionally cheap right now:

That would at least be 700MB per disc you could backup instead of the 100MB for Zip...

I've got a ton of pics and MP3's. ideally what I would do is
backup to an online site then using an external HD on my
laptop, retrieve the files and then I have my backup.

Here's a page with a comparison of online services. May be worth a look, but you'd still pay more than for a CD-R. Plus your connection speed would dictate how quickly you could accomplish such...

You could also (theoretically) e-mail the files to yourself from your NT machine to your laptop, again, dependent on your connection speed and the amount of e-mail your server would let you store at one given time...

Why not just connect the two computers and copy the data to your laptop that way?

would to but I have no connectivity. NT doesn't support USB. I
suppose I could use the serial port but not really sure what's
involved. I'm sure I require some special software.

Does the NT machine have a network card? If so, all you need is a CAT3/CAT5 crossover cable.
