How can I get NT to not display my old wallpaper durning startup, after CTRL-ALT-DEL, etc.? I'd guess it's a simple fix, but I've been wrong before...thanks!

what do you actually mean? when do you want not to display your old wallpaper? is during the startup? ie. when there is a bright blue screen or the wallpaper on the logon screen??

You could try changing the registry key below (remembering to back up the registry before hacking about with it!) HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop Changing the Wallpaper key to your required paper should work, but you'll have to enter the full path (ie. "c:\winnt\mywallpaper.bmp") Hope that helps!

A little clarification: ...installed WinNT... ...set wallpaper... ...change wallpaper... now, during boot/login, and after hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL (lock workstation, etc) the background is the original wallpaper. My quick fix was to rename the BMP of the original wallpaper, so now Win just shows a blank desktop during those times. Maybe this is the solution...? I'd think there's a better way, but one never knows what can come out of Redmond...

go to run, regedit. Then search for you old wallpaper name, delete every reference to it. if you hit f3 after the first it will find the next and so on. BUT PLEASE BACK UP THE REGISTRY BEFORE DOING ANYTHING IN IT!
