Comment: reinstalled windows NT 4.0 sp4 on a Dell Poweredge 1300. Told the system it was a PDC. Now, when I've logged onto the system, I cannot get to user setup or server manager as it tells me that the network path could not be found - what is going on?

Reply: Okay First of all IS this a machine part of a larger network (read domain)or did you just startup a network ( domain ) and is this the first machine ( has to be PDC if you start a domain) If this is not and you have a domain the proper procedure should be First demote the PDC to a BDC Promote a BDC to PDC Reinstall the software and setup as a BDC LAter switch PDC to BDC and the new ( fresh machine)to PDC back again Futher more I advice to install SP 6a at all time You can email me direct if you like
