Hi, we have a problem in a Windows NT Workstation 4.0 Service Pack 6a machine.
When trying to run a MS-DOS session appears the next message:
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem MS-DOS
Prompt - ntdetect The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
Then the system hangs.
We have tried restoring de comand.com file from WinNT installation CD-ROM but it doesn´t work.

Did you get a repsonse to this question? I'm having the same NTVDM CPU error message appear whenever I try to install any programs from CD-rom. I recently installed Windows XP Professional on a new home system and can't install any programs. Very troublesome.

Please email me at kmcdonald@selu.edu if you have any suggestions how to fix it.
