Hello
Had NT4 server..Had some problems so installed windows 2000 thinking that they may be solved..But the problems increased and i then installed back the NT4 server on the C Drive ..(That was very stupid of me)..
I have a lot of important stuff on the D drive..which i am not able to see..The machine does not recognise this drive...I have only 1 hard drive with 2 partitions C and D..
Will some help me how to get back the data from this drive...I will apprecite a lot if some could help me with this problem..

Thank you for you time and advise..

Vinod

Is drive D visible if you boot into DOS from a floppy ?
What's the formatting on drive D - NTFS/FAT/FAT32 ? W2K should see all of them shouldn't it ?
Have you tried any recovery software or Partition Magic to reclaim the partition - but be careful !

reinstall 2000 and opt to install in onto the drive you're after ( or win98 will also do ). shift the data over and format the drive with 2000 on afterwards.
i did the same !!

What is the size of your HD ? I had the same problem with a big HD (20 GB) with one small partition (C = 2GB = system) and a big extended partition (d = 18 GB).
Every time I was trying to access the D partion explorer was making an application error...I had to install SP5 in order to see my extended partition back.
