Comment: Hi, I am using an NT4 workstation and am running an appplication on my machine which is shared to 4 other people on our network. Problem i have is that people complain that it takes so long to connect to that application on my machine......how can i improve performance so that these people get quicker response times. Reply: (edit)Donal, Are you using Netbeui or TCP\IP? It sounds as though there is something that still needs to be configured. How much RAM is in your system? Are you using a real Switch, or just a Hub?

Reply: (edit)Donal... If you IP connections are working ok... I would look at defragging the HD... I use a copy of Diskeeper Lite for my NT machines...does a good job and it's free... Steve

Reply: (edit)try using the performance monitor in start,programs, admin tools,perf mon. set up a recorder for any resource you think might be the problem, might not detect a crappy intel nic or some cheap hub but will tell if your hardware is lacking or where the network traffic is going.
