Comment: Hi,
I am using an NT4 workstation and am running an appplication on my machine which is shared to 4 other people on our network. Problem i have is that people complain that it takes so long to connect to that application on my machine......how can i improve performance so that these people get quicker response times. Are you using Netbeui or TCP\IP? It sounds as though there is something that still needs to be configured. How much RAM is in your system? Are you using a real Switch, or just a Hub?

I would look at defragging the HD... I use a copy of Diskeeper Lite for my NT machines...does a good job and it's free...

Reply: (edit)try using the performance monitor in start,programs, admin tools,perf mon. set up a recorder for any resource you think might be the problem, might not detect a crappy intel nic or some cheap hub but will tell if your hardware is lacking or where the network traffic is going.
