Hi

I have followed KB article 555038 but my NT4 clients will not join our 2K3 AD domain. W2K and XP join fine from the same LAN point so the network issue is not there. I have populated my WINS with the 2K3 DC (this resolves OK when pinged).

Any advice on getting the NT4 clients working? The current message I get when trying to join the domain is the domain controller for this domain cannot be located.

Muchos thanks in advance

Bowza

You have entered the Wins address on each NT Client? Are you using an LMHosts file?

Yes I have tried to set the WINS manually on each client, even though it is assigned through the DHCP scope, with no success.

I also created a LMHOSTS file and that didn't resolve the problem...

A further question you might be able to help with is whether NT will handle a domain name in the form of test.company.com?? Do you just assign test as a domain entry in WINS or test.company.com .. also when joining the domain can you just join test domain or must you specify test.company.com?

By the way I set up a couple of virtual machines using vmware on my machine and experienced no difficulties with the virtual win2k but problems with the virtual win nt....

Again thanks for you time.
