I have a old HP Netserver E30.
NT4 server sp3. Using PCI SCSI Hard drive as system drive. Current Hard drive are 2.1 G only.

What my question
Q1: I want to upgrade or add a Hard drive as a data drive. Does my PCI SCSI card support larger drive or the mainboard wont support it. I think 40 G hard disk is enough.
Q2: If i use external IDE case(int. hard drive)(parrallel port), will it support too??
What is urs suggestion???

Thanks 4 all :)

Wouldn't recommend external drive via parallel cable. External scsi drive would be a way to go. I don't know any reason why the scsi card would not address larger drives. I would not add a ide drive to the mix/ I highly recommend you update the service pack to 6a.

You have two options:
1. just add a scsi2 hard drive internally and use it for pagefile and data storage. This will free up space on the OS drive.
2, Use Ghost to ghost the 2gig to the new larger drive. Don't exceed 7.8gig for system/boot partition due to a well known ntfs/bios boot limit bug in NT. Use the rest of the drive for the data partiton.
