Hi My college was throwing out an old dell xps 233 so I took it. It had already been stripped so I had to buy a new video card, memory, and I also took a network card that was in another PC. The Operating system is nt4 and the new video card is a cirrus logic 543x. The system hangs when I move the mouse and is only usable in 16 colour VGA mode (hangs also but alot less) The PC used to have a serial mouse attached and my mouse is the other kind could this be causing system to hang? The system used to have 32mb ram and now has 64mb 4*16mb but the two pairs of chips are different The computer is no longer connected to a network and had a different network card installed to mine (cant get the netcard to work either but thats another story).
Thanks
PS: I know your going to tell me to reinstall NT but Ive no NT CD (or CD-ROM drive!) I see u can get 3 NT4 recovery disks off the internet would these be any use or will I also need the CD?

I tried removing 32 meg of memory from it yesterday but it still crashes. I think it might be the video card, NT detects VGA compatible card (microsoft driver) at startup even when I select the right driver from the list. the card is pci not isa could that be why its not being detected?
