I'm wondering if it is possible to automate a telnet session using the NT telnet utility the way you can automate an ftp session using the NT ftp utility. I want to open a connection to a remote computer, execute a few commands, and disconnect, all from a batch file. Can it be done? Any insight would be appreciated.

Not sure if telnet can be automated through a batch file. However, if it can't, here is a free utility that definitely can:

Auto-It is a macro automation scripting tool. Once you've created and tested a script, you can convert it to an EXE file so no installation is necessary.

Hope it works for you!
