Subject: NT shutdown on low UPS Power
|
Comment: Hi: I have a large UPS connected to a single NT server. The NT Server shuts off when the UPS power goes critically low. How can I cause OTHER NT servers on the same network to shutdown at the same time? Is there a remote script that the first NT server can run to power down the other NT servers? Some help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Reply: (edit)Are they all connected to one UPS? If so, check your settings under UPS in the control panel. There is a lot of software that will look after your servers - I have used Powerchute (it is bundled with APC UPS's)

Reply: (edit)The UPS powers ALL the servers but has only one serial connector--so it is connected for management purposes only to one Server. This server has no problem shutting down. I was thinking more in terms of a triggered script or something that would cause the first server to send a shutdown command to the other servers when the first server found UPS power at a critical level...

Reply: (edit)I have developed a VB program that forces my networked PC'S to shutdown at certain times during the week.. I run the "AT" command to execute the VB program.. Although, the machines don't power off since NT doesn't support power management.. If anyone can help with a link to 3rd party APM.. Thanks in advanced...
