I sold a unisys sgs 4200 server on the internet and I want to put nt server back on the hard drive for my customer. it goes through the setup process ok.....goes through the msdos portion, creates the boot disks, then installs the os, but then when I go to reboot I get a message saying "missing operating system". Any ideas?

NT sometimes has difficulty writing the mbr. Check with fdisk to make sure the partition is marked active or it won't boot.

One method that I have found always works:

1. create a small 125meg primary active dos partition. Format it with format c: /s and reboot with no floppy disk to confirm you boot off c:. Boot the NT cd from a boot disk with cdrom support or via the bios. Hit f6 when asked [see in lower left corner] and add the NT ide controller driver if needed. Use install to create a 4gig [max it can do out of the box without service packs] partition. Complete install. Update drives/deal with any event viewer errors and install service pack 6a.
