Comment:
I have installed service pack 6 which crashed my server, since then i get a error message whilst booting regarding update.sys. After this error the server restarts and i get the error again. I did select the backup option when installing the service pack. But i am using NTFS so i cannot boot to dos and copy original files. Any help would be most appriated.

have you tried using last known good config, providing you have not logged on to the machine since the crash, you can use this then uninstall the service pack.
also do you not have a repair disk

The R disk would have had to be made by someone after the OS was up and running and it allows you to use the default install disks and then q you to put in the R disk to restore your specific registry and SAM files. I have had no success with the R disk. I allways ended up doing a parallel install of the OS (in a different directory) and then using a backup of my registry and restoring back to original.
