Hi All
I need to know what would be reasonable specs to install NT server as a Backup domain controller. All the machine would do it is that. No file store or other apps running on it.What I need to know is CPU speed and RAM that would be recommended. As checkign technet min specs are a 486 but thats the stupid MS way.
Thanks in advance

NT, as a backup domain controller and nothing else, would run fine on a P100 with 64M of RAM, and a 1G HDD.
You can go up as high as you like, but that's enough - for a small network, like say up to about 50 PC's.

"Reasonable" is a pretty vague criterion.
If your PDC is engaged in a mission critical task (something sublime and "magical," for example) then a 486 would be unsuitable. On the other hand, if you're running a network at home, and the PDC is itself a 486, your use of a 486 as BDC is not unreasonable.
However, I would recommend consulting the system requirement posted here:
http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/ProductInformation/ProductOverview/systemrequirements/default.asp

Thanks a lot guys this is for a small company network just to act as a backup as we are having probs with the main PDC and it needs constant rebooting so to stop people having to log off and not being able to log in I'm setting up a BDC thanks for the advice
