I am trying to use my laptop to dial into my NT Server and access the Internet (through the ADSL connection). I know that it's a simple procedure, but for some reason I can't get it going. I am able to dial into the server, connect, authenticate user but cannot access the internet. Can some one plese give me some suggestions? Should I be using the DNS servers for the ADSL connection as the DNS for the client (laptop dialing up)? Should I be using the IP address of NT (ADSL) as the gateway for the laptop? What else am I missing? Thanks for any help.

Hi Garry,
Just a few of questions that might reveal something. Where is your laptop PPP adapter getting an IP from? Ras? Dhcp server on lan? Is the laptop Dhcp client or static? Do you have hard coded settings for Tcp/ip properties of the PPP adapter? Is the asdl connection with the server still intact? Is ipforwarding enabled or disabled on the server? It does sound to me like some missing or incorrect ip info for what you want to do. I would start with the ipconfig or winipcfg check on the laptop once dialed into ras to check what ip info you have. Where is your DNS resolution comming from? Can you ping you dns server once dialed in? You may be right about the gateway depending on the current ip config.
Hope the info is helpful, let me know the answers you find. Its hard to determine the problem, without specific details about you're situation.

Feel free to contact me if you think I can help further.
